- We are not just another show band……
It is human nature to label things. The Blue Street Jazz Band is often considered a show band. While Blue Street is known for its fun and entertaining presentations, the label “show band” doesn’t always work. Blue Street is far too versatile to be labeled just a “show band”.

- but a traditional jazz band
The band has played entire tribute sets to Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet, Kid Ory, and Jelly Roll Morton at past festivals. They have also presented a set call “The History of Jazz”. All presentations are well-researched and presented tastefully. The band is well aware of its West Coast Revival heritage and can play in that style as well. If you want an all-traditional jazz set, then Blue Street is your band.
Sample: St. Louis Blues, Viper Mad, All the Girls Go Crazy, Buddy Bolden's Blues, Big Bear Stomp

- a swing band
Blue Street can play numbers in the small swing ensemble style of Louis Jordan and Louis Prima. The band can keep swing dancers on the dance floor for the entire set.
Samples:Jump, Jive, and Wail, Is you is or is you ain't My Baby?

- a Mardi Gras party band
Very few bands can play the “street beat” as well as Blue Street. The band can play an entire set of jammin’ New Orleans Mardi Gras music. The party band crowd will go wild.

- an educational band
Three school music educators in the band with many years of experience teaching young people plus four young adult musicians who relate very well to youngsters makes the Blue Street Jazz Band the perfect band for jazz clinics. Teaching experience and being able to relate to young people is their strength and why they make an excellent clinic band.

- a gospel band
The Blue Street Jazz Band is the gospel band on the circuit. Over the years the band has played at many churches or at festival sites with a local clergy presenting a message. They also have their own resident seminarian that can present a brief homily if needed. The band has recorded four gospel albums.

- an original band
Blue Street doesn’t only replicate the great jazz songs of the past. They also make new arrangements of the old standards and write new songs. Many of these songs are crowd favorites.
